these Celaenorrhinus (by Trevor Van Loon and Emily Larson at Puerto Lopez) look like no other species but Celaenorrhinus stallingsi, the only difference being the large white spot in space 2, the shape of which is more trapezoid on the stallingsi figured on BoA ; but this species is supposed to fly from Mexico to Costa Rica.

and Rudy Gelis took pictures of the same butterfly near Macará. https://www.loja-zamora.eu/en/fiche-papillon/025-Hesperiidae/007-Pyrginae/005-Celaenorrhini/001-Celaenorrhinus/030-stallingsi+%3F/_

so, either stallingsi flies much farther South, or we have an undescribed and similar looking species or subspecies.

as official distribution maps are not very reliable, as geographic distributions vary with time, as a great many species have this typical "Western" distribution pattern from Mexico to NW Peru, and as a slight difference between individuals from Mexico and others from SW Ecuador would make sense, we tend to believe it could be Celaenorrhinus stallingsi.
