wingspan : 35/41 mm

Entheus latifascius, Wimbi, Durango, Puerto Quito.

the present taxonomy of the "brown and orange" Entheus is a disaster ;
butterflies on this page should be a subspecies of Entheus matho, but the confusion prevailing around these subspecies and their sympatry are the reasons why we call these butterflies - hopefully temporarily - Entheus aequatoriuswithout regard to present entomology rules and practices.

females of these two species are markedly different which is why we know that, in this region, aequatorius flies in the Eastern part, at elevations of 800 to 2000 meters, when latefascius flies farther West and at no more than 800 meters, with an overlap in the Lita-Alto Tambo area..

males aequatorius have a whitish anal fold, but all the males from the Western lowlands do not, so we assumed that males latifascius have no whitish anal fold although the only (doubtful) male latifascius illustrated on BoA has one.
