this Dalla captured by Suzi Bond at Yanacocha does not match any species that we know ; it could be a melanising individual of Dalla grovius ?


another possibility would be a North South cline, Northern Dalla grovius having very reduced yellow markings, these markings getting larger and larger the farther South you go, as illustrated on the individual variation page.


it is all the more difficult to make an opinion that, if Dalla grovius is quite common in Southern Ecuador, it is very rare in the North.
