Male

Female

wingspan : male 33, female 36/37 mm

these butterflies come from Durango (rio Bogota), and look exactly like the Vertica subrufescens illustrated on butterfliesofamerica.

but Bernard Hermier tells us that :
1 - there is no such thing as a description of a species called Vertica subrufescens,

2 - it is possible that the - sympatric - subspecies of Vertica verticalis, grandipuncta, coatepeca and verticalis, would be bona fide species.

so, we prefer to call these butterflies Vertica subrufescens, knowing that we do not comply with the current rules.
