this butterfly is said to be a rarity, Castilla neria, collected by Janusz Wojtusiak in 2004 at Tandayapa, and presently in the Zoological Museum of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
but it would seem that this species is not so rare from Mindo to San Miguel de los Bancos, as witnessed by pictures by David Geale and Adrien Bariou at Mindo and Esteban Poveda and Demian Hiss at San Carlos.
