in the Western part of South America Jemadia hospita has two subspecies: hospita and imitator ;
Ernst Brockmann and Bernard Hermier, two of the top skippers specialists, particularly with Pyrrhopygini, consider that the Jemadia hospita from Cotacachi are Jemadia hospita hospita, just like all those that fly in the Oriente, from Ecuador to Bolivia.
but, as far as we are concerned, we see these Jemadia hospita from Reserva Cotacachi different from the Oriente population (see new facts page).

in spite of the debt of gratitude we owe to Ernst Brockmann and Bernard Hermier for their help in documenting this site, we we keep seeing these Jemadia hospita from East and West of the Andes as different, the Western specimens looking neither like hospita, nor like imitator.
