Bernard Hermier points out that, if the specimen on this page, collected at Durango, is Polyctor polyctor dagua,
the other specimen, on the individual variation page and collected at Alto Tambo, is Polyctor polyctor polyctor.


so we would have two subspecies twenty kilometers apart and flying in the same biotopes and more or less at the same elevation ?
doesn't make much sense.


we have to look for Polyctor polyctor in this area, and we'll know better.

the Durango specimen (on the left) looks like a typical Polyctor polyctor dagua, when the Alto Tambo specimen looks exactly like Polyctor polyctor polyctor
